Children's Church

Spark Sunday School

Picture
Children’s Church takes place during the summer worship service schedule in place of Sunday School.  Children ages 3 through 8 are dismissed with the adult leader and an adult volunteer to the Fireside Room.

Children’s Church takes a slightly different approach to Christian Education than our Sunday School classes.  Elements of the actual worship service are introduced and explained in age-appropriate ways.  A brief lesson based on one of the Sunday scripture readings is also included.

Nursery

During the Sunday School year, the nursery is staffed during the 9am worship service.  Screened, experienced caregivers provide a safe and nurturing environment for your child(ren).  We take pride in ensuring that all of our caregivers, teachers, and staff meet the requirements of our Child Protection Policy.

Our recommended age range for use of the nursery is 3 months through 3 years.  While we welcome those over three in the nursery, we do offer Sunday School.

Children will find an array of toys, books, and activities to keep occupied.  We also make an extra effort to ensure that all of our toys and books are cleaned and disinfected on a regular basis.

Childcare is also offered for many of our special events.  Please contact the church office to confirm at 630.325.2220.

Cradle Roll

“Cradle Roll” is the traditional name for this program, which provides families with materials and resources on the development of children from birth to 3 years old.  Our informative, parent-focused resources provide ideas for age-appropriate activities to do with children, milestones to look for and celebrate, and ideas for how parents can create a God-centered home.

Babies are placed on the “cradle roll” at birth. Parents receive monthly mailings of resources until the child’s third birthday. When the child reaches the age of 3, they “graduate” and are invited to join the three year-old Sunday School class.

Spark Sunday School for Children Pre-K through grade 5!
Spark gives kids the opportunity to learn about God’s love and blessings through inspiring stories of the Bible.  Our teachers are screened in accordance with our Child Protection Policy, trained in our current curriculum and are ready to share God's love with your child!

Spark Sunday School has begun!  Registration is ongoing. Please plan on joining us this next Sunday. Please drop your children off in the Growing Grove before service begins. Sunday School will run from 9-10:20am. All children will be brought to the Sanctuary for Communion (or a blessing) as a whole group. They will return to Sunday School after communion as a group. On the 2nd Sunday of the month, the children will stay a bit longer in worship to sing, and then will return to Sunday School.   Sunday School is for children Pre-K through grade 5. We have so much fun during Sunday School from interactive lessons to monthly themed parties; your child will feel fulfilled and enlightened each Sunday.

Sunday School Youth Choir
The children pre-k through grade 5 practice during Sunday School for Youth Sunday, which is the 2nd Sunday of each month. All children will remain in worship for the duration of the whole Contemporary Service on Youth Sundays and there will not be Sunday School. We hope that you will be just as excited about engaging in worship as families on these Sundays.

The Children’s WEEKLY OFFERING
Each week our children donate money to support Erick, a 9 year-old child who lives in Bolivia and is sponsored through World Vision. We have been learning about his life and telling him a little bit about ours through letters. It is always an exciting treat when we receive a letter from Erick.  He has become a part of our Sunday School and all the children know him by name.

OUR CURRICULUM
The Spark curriculum from Augsburg Fortress has been designed by children’s education experts to accommodate all the different ways kids learn.  Your child may learn best through hands-on activities or maybe through writing and reading activities.  Our kids will explore their faith through interactive games, colorful lesson leaflets, creative art projects and more.

Let’s be the spark that ignites faith in the hearts of our children!  Join us at Spark this week!
