Children and Family
Children’s Church takes place during the worship service. Following the Children’s Message, children ages 3 through 8 are dismissed with the adult leader to the Fireside Room.
Children’s Church takes a slightly different approach to Christian Education than our Sunday School classes. Elements of the actual worship service are introduced and explained in age-appropriate ways. A brief lesson based on one of the Sunday scripture readings is also included.
This fall, we are on a “Journey through Worship.” Each week a different symbol or object relevant to worship will be placed in a suitcase. The children will work together to discover the symbol or object and learn its value to the worship experience.
Children are brought back into the sanctuary during the offering to join their families for the remainder of the worship service.
During the school year, the nursery is staffed continuously from 8:15—11:15am every Sunday morning. Screened, experienced caregivers provide a safe and nurturing environment for your child(ren). We take pride in ensuring that all of our caregivers, teachers, ushers and staff meet the requirements of our Child Protection Policy.
Our recommended age range for use of the nursery is 3 months through 3 years. While we welcome those over three in the nursery, we do offer Sunday School at 9:00am (children are dismissed to Sunday School following the Children’s Sermon if you attend the 8:30am worship service) and Children’s Church during the 10:00am service. Sunday School is for children age 3 through grade 5, and Children’s Church is designed for children ages 3 through 8.
Our nursery is located on the left as you enter the church from the main doors. We are well-stocked with toys, books, movies and activities. We also make an extra effort to ensure that all of our materials are cleaned and disinfected on a regular basis.
Childcare is also offered for many of our special events. Contact the church office to confirm.
“Cradle Roll” is the traditional name for this program, which provides families with materials and resources on the development of children from birth to 3 years old. Our informative, parent-focused resources provide ideas for age-appropriate activities to do with children, milestones to look for and celebrate, and ideas for how parents can create a God-centered home.
Babies are placed on the “cradle roll” at birth. Parents receive monthly mailings of resources until the child’s third birthday. When the child reaches the age of 3, they “graduate” and are invited to join the three year-old Sunday School class. To commemorate the transition from Cradle Roll to Sunday School, Cradle Roll graduates' names will also be placed on a banner at the baptismal font.
Special thanks to our dedicated volunteers who prayerfully remember each of our Cradle Roll children as they send out the mailings.

OUR WEEKLY OFFERING
Each week our children donate money to support Erick, a 3 year old child that lives in Bolivia. KidSpark Sunday School sponsors Erick through World Vision. We've been learning about his life and telling him a little bit about ours through letters. It's always an exciting treat when we receive a letter from Erick. The children also send gifts of money from weekly offerings to help others in need through World Vision. He has become a part of our Sunday School and all the child know him by name.
The Spark curriculum from Augsburg Fortress has been designed by children’s education experts to accommodate all the different ways kids learn. Your child may learn best through hands-on activities or maybe through writing and reading activities. Our kids will explore their faith through interactive games, colorful lesson leaflets, creative art projects and more.
KidSpark is from 9:00-9:45 AM on Sunday mornings.
Those children attending the 8:30am Contemporary Worship Service will be released from worship to Sunday School following the Children’s Message. If you are not attending 8:30am service, please have your child in the Growing Grove at 9:00am.
